North East Stories - Self Evaluation

When I first heard we were doing this project I thought I had to go taking pictures of the landmarks of the north east or old men in flat caps drinking lagers in an old pub. I was so pleased when it wasn't that type of north east story and was just about any type of life in the north east as long as it has a narrative and I was told to pick something I know well. I jumped at the chance do some photos around my spooky past as I thought this would have a perfect narrative that I was looking for. I think I have answered what the brief asked and I enjoyed doing it. The only problem I felt I had was the fact all my pictures look similar and I was worried about how I would get a story across and if using spooky music might be too much for the video but I needed to get the right feelings with the video as well as it could seriously effect the atmosphere you get when watching the pictures. I think I could have done with a better soft wear to make the video out of as I don't think Google Picasa is suitable to do these types of videos as when I tried to upload music onto the video the music would skip. So the only way I could do it was do the video with out music then upload it to you tube where I could pick what ever music I wanted so I sat for an hour trying different types of music and finally found one that I thought suited the photographs brilliantly.  I ended up using about 12 pictures in my video narrative and the video lasts about 2.30. I would say I was influenced by a photographer for these pictures of the transfig but maybe the old Victorian pictures had a hand in how I wanted things to look. I did have a lot of fun doing this project and I enjoyed putting music and text to the photographs and I this is something I would like to continue doing in the future as I wouldn't say it make the photos mean more but it helps put a bigger story across and adding music helps push the story more and that's my opinion. I did love the whole technical bit and watching it come together and turn into what it has ended in. I'm very happy with how this turned out in my eyes I don't think I could have made it any better.
