Editorial Evaluation.

I really was trying to think hard on how I could do an editorial on extraordinary. At first I thought on disabled people and the extraordinary things they can achieve but I thought everyone would be doing that. So  I thought about the life saving equipment in north tees hospital I thought that would be a good thing to start, but after having an editorial I was told to leave that idea and take portraits of my dad with a white background so I did and hated every single one of them. I do find that if its someones elses idea im not that good at doing it. I then took a photo of my fireplace by accident while I was trying to take the cat and have a bit of a play about with the camera, I noticed my entire life was on the fire place I then went upstairs and took pictures of my daughters shelf and realised hers was the same. The next time I was at uni having a crit I showed the lecturer who wasn't that impressed but found some old photos Id took at trying to do a Morden day Cinderella and he really liked them and I was told to do my project on shoes which is ok with me as I love shoes. I did my first one with the wizard of oz shoes and staged it to look as if the witch had been squashed with the house so all I took was legs but instead of a house I wanted them to look as if they past out drunk and the red hot poker shoes, but again I was told they didn't like the idea and I needed to take shoes in random areas which I felt didn't really go with my idea. Every photo there after I hated taking as I didn't feel like this was my idea and I found it very difficult I managed to put a few little twist of my own In a few of the images but other than that I didn't feel like it was my project. I did find that I pushed my self to experiment with how I was taking the shoots with flash as I hate using flash I think it makes the photo to bright sometimes. I also tried hard to make the photo interesting but some give a hint of the storys behind the shows in a little gesture as I was told not to make it obvious. I was disappointed with most of the photos I took but I kept pushing myself to see if I could find better places to make my photos look great. I really tried to do something like the photographers I managed to research but mainly I really wanted to have my own touch to them saying I wanted to make story's out of them.  If I was to do this project again I would follow my own ideas and take into account the suggestions of the lecturers as they both have very different opinions and I found I just felt confused on how to approach my project and I ended up unhappy and still feel confused. I did have problems at the end of the project as my loan money hadn't come in and I couldn't afford to get them professional printed so I printed them out myself and also had a major problem as I deleted all my Cinderella and first iron hot poker shoes from the 3 back ups I had put them on and the only copies I had where on facebook so I had to down load them for my final prints as the Cinderella ones everyone liked and I felt that one of them had to be in my final print , so unfortunate the file size is really small for these 2 pictures.

Editorial Project - Final Images

Well I took over 700 photographs trying different angles different lighting moving slightly to the left or right, trying to alter the position of the shoes to see if I could get a better picture. So after a lot of debating and a lot of staring at the photos I finally picked......9. There was suppose to be 5 but I couldn't narrow them down so here is my final 9.

Editorial Research - Fairytale shoes - take 2 of red hot poker shoes

I loved the other pictures I took but unfortunately they turned out blurry so I bought some sparklers and headed to the park in hope I can take some amazing fire pictures with out the blur and here is some I took.

As you can see these photographs were a big massive fail and I was very disappointed they were that blurry I couldn't even save them.

Editorial Research Fairy tale shoes - Hermes

Now Every one know about Hermes the messenger for the Greek gods who had wings on his shoes well this is my interpretation of the story.

I really liked the ones I took in front of the columns as I feel like these look more Greek.
These are all my own images.

Editorial Fairytale shoe - Cinderella take 2

I went back out with my Cinderella type shoes to try and do a shoot that wasn't set up and wasn't aimed to much on the story that the lectures wanted. I found this hard as it wasn't what I had in mind but here are some of the pictures I took using these shoes.
Well I tried not to set them up but I couldn't help myself on some of them.....im just a natural story teller. These photos I wanted to try and represent the 2 ugly step sisters wanting Cinderella's shoes.

with these photos I went back to taking them in random places.
and these ones I back setting them up and trying to tell a story again.

Now with these ones im back to random places.

I must admit I love all of these ones and I feel its going to be difficult to chose, I loved the way the slow shutter give the shoes a golden look to them.
All the above images are my own.

editorial research - fairytale shoes - wizard of Oz shoes take 2

So I went back out with the camera to take the wizard of oz shoes in a different location.  I wanted to see what it would look like with blue bricks as I was told not to make the story to obvious so I thought the blue brick road might be a good hint towards it. While I was down there I came across a Pomeranian dog, and I had been after a little dog to sit with my wizard of oz shoes as my toto. I then went back later on the night to take some night shots of an alley I saw that had light in and thought that might be good. I then headed over towards the river in Stockton to see if I could get any interesting shoots over there to.

I absolutely loved the lights on the floor and how they made them look especially the one with the people behind them. I also liked the way the shoes looked on that railing I was terrified the wind was going to blow them into the river. I also like the close up of them on the blue cobbles and the little dog was called buzz light year and was one of the market stall holders dog that I begged to photograph next to my shoes but I felt I could shoot them how I wanted as the dog was very excitable and made it difficult but I still think there great.
These are all my images and below is 2 little video about my idea
