Black and White protraits of strangers Research
After my flop in the back room I decided to attempt it again and as it was raining out side we decided inside at a very interesting spot in the collage. So after setting up I proceeded to take 6 photos of people one with flash on and one with flash off. I had to set the camera up for every shot as I needed one with the background blurred, one semi focused in the back ground and one totally focused in the background. After I was finished doing that I went back up to the developing room and as I was loading mine and Nicolas film in a tank I felt one of the pegs with the film attached fall into one of the tanks. When we finally found it , it had fallen into the stop tank and ruined it. We proceeded to develop what was left wondering what film we had just destroyed after 30 more minutes in the darkest room imaginably we emerged with our developed prints except for the one we dropped in the stop which turned out to be Nicolas. After inspecting the film I discovered my subjects where stood to close to the back ground and there was no depth of field....NOOOOOOOO id messed up again did I mention I really don't like this 5x4 camera. Again im going to have to try again and that is with out doing the colour film yet.
Black and White Portraits of strangers research
we have been giving our new project and I must say I feel very lost, Im struggling with what needs to be done and how to organize myself to get it done. Im on tablets at the moment to help me through a difficult year and when I think of any type of work it feels like my brain fogs up and I cant think straight and I feel like I cant breath. This is hampering me trying to do this course and the work that needs to be done as I feel im in the dark scurrying about trying to find the light switch so everything will become clear and I can see what needs to be done again. Luckily I have a friend who is closely guiding me through what need to be done..thanks Nicola :) . So I managed to get out with the 5x4 camera which I dislike intently just so you know and took a few portraits of people passing by. I got a great one of a very intimidating fellow who was smoking a cigarette now for a photographer I found this shoot to be very exciting and was very pleased with myself. After I had taking the 3 shots I was ready to develop to see how they turned out after fiddling about in a very darky room trying to develop the film for nearly 30 minutes, we were ready to see our handy work. Nicolas came out brilliantly.....mine on the other hand were like ghosts on film and were unusable, devastated wasn't the word...back to the drawing board or in my case to the photography store for more film and to try again.
The above picture is a photo took in the developing room to show you how dark it is when we are developing film...you mays well have your eyes closed.
