Landscape Research - Dark room

So I finally got in the dark room to print and got to use the De vere enlarger. After I had sorted out all my equipment I was ready to start and the first print I wanted to do was a landscape of a farmers field that looked down on to Hartlepool and thought this would be a good print to start on as it looked very interesting and I couldn't wait to see what it looked like.

It looked in focus and I was ready to expose my paper. The first one that I exposed was to under exposed so I had another go then this one looked blurred round the edges which I could work out why it looked like that, so I did another one and exposed the bottom half of the picture and then covered the bottom and exposed the sky for another 3 seconds. The edges still looked blurred  and only the middle seemed in focus. When I printed all the others it was still the same  blurred round the outside and focused in the middle, im not sure how I did that and was very disappointed I printed out 9 pictures and I lost 2 negatives which I assume sunk in the deep tank. I tried lots of things with the negative's I had but with me only having the one day to print I was pushed for time and didn't get them as perfect as I wanted, and a lot of expensive paper.
