John Davies -Landscape- Research

John Davies is a British landscape photographer. He is known for completing long term projects documenting Britain, and exploring the industrialisation of space

To me this photo feels depressing and gives a feel of isolation weather that's because the trees are bare or its the chimneys  im not sure but gives me a strong feeling of despair. Even though it gives me them feelings I still like the photograph maybe it reminds me of home as im quite use to seeing this view most days on my travels around Teesside.

I choose this photo because I liked the way the bridge and the buildings seamed to fit together  but with it all looking so close to the nature elements it gives a feeling of been crowded and no room. I can imagine that without our presence here that this would have been a lovely nature spot and now it just feels noisy.

This picture I find I cant stop looking at and find it strange that it should make me feel scared I think this may be because he has caught a field and tree and a beautiful looking church in the fore ground and in the background looming like giants and looking like alien machinery gives it this type of fear factor. The industry looks like it is not in the right place and makes you feel that the church must be abandoned and gives me the feeling of isolation again.

I do find his photos very dark and they do make me feel very down and im not sure if this is what he was wanting when he took the pictures but I do like the style he has done.

The pictures above belong to John Davies.
